ABOUT PUBLIC LIBRARIES

It is hard to imagine being a lifelong learner without having a public library nearby. Even in this age of the Internet, the World Wide Web, cable TV, satellite radio, and friendly online bookstores, public libraries provide important services to people of all ages and interests.

Penny is passionate about public libraries. She has a Bachelors of Library Science Degree and worked in public libraries for more than 25 years. Her PhD was in the study of public libraries from a postmodern perspective. Penny taught an online course on issues in public libraries for a library school at a large American state university for four years.

Mike is a sophisticated public library user, placing holds online, picking them up at a local branch, and always getting his books or dvds back on time!
