TOURS

One of our favourite ways of travelling is taking a tour. Generally we think of a "tour" as involving a plane trip to a distant destination and local travel once we get there. We may make our own arrangements or book a tour with a company.

Currently our favourite tour company is Road Scholar formerly known as Elderhostel. Road Scholar subcontracts with touring companies all over the world. They always feature a learning component. Accomodation is in three star hotels - comfortable and clean - but not lavish.

The Elderhostel tours we have taken are:

• Monument Valley, Utah. Teaching in a Navajo School
• Hiking in Tuscany and Umbria
• Cross Country Skiing in Vermont
• New York Museums
• Hiking in Big Bend, Texas
• Hiking in the Grand Canyon
• India: Treasures of the North and south
